The Skaters collection began as part of a residency at the North West Film Archives 2011, where I produced a body of work themed around 'Ice.' Underpinning this work, I sat in a dark room and literally drew from very short, silent sequences of amateur films shot in the 1930's, England. These films were rediscovered in various attics and restored by the archive. These found films inspired the 'Skater' series which manifested as lithographic prints, screen prints, drawings, and a short experimental artists film, which was shown at film festivals in England and China, and featured on the BBC big screen, Fact in Liverpool, and at the Orleans House Gallery, in Surrey.
Some of the prints have been shown in the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition, London; the Royal Scottish Academy, Edinbugh; the Cork Street Gallery, London; The Mall Galleries, London at the Royal Society of British Artists; the Society of Women Artists Summer Show, Mall Galleries , London; the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists as well as other exhibitions across the UK. This is an ongoing project.
